Absolutely Marvelous July 28, 2010 Too Techie (London, UK) 20 out of 28 found this review helpful
I bought this TV for my mum having purchased Panasonic TX-L37G15 37 inch Viera Full HD LCD Television with Freesat (TX-L37G15B) for myself just before New Year, thinking I would save myself a few bob before nasty VAT man inflated, but this TV was nearly £100 cheaper and better - having Freeview HD, and ARC (Audio Return Channel) which means you can fully connect to your Home Cinema with a single HDMI Cable instead of having to rely on a poxy phono cable with dubious 5:1 (or 7:1) dolby channel interpretation - can be noisy at low volume whereas ARC is inherently digital and pure.
I've heard people say HD on Freesat and Freeview was bearly any better than SD, but these full HD (1080) TVs are fantastic on Freeview - though do suffer from noise around fast moving objects like a footballers head when running across grass, a bit better on Freesat than Freeview - though you can't beat blu-ray for fantastic video enjoyment on these boxes. Make sure you buy Panasonic for each piece of your jigsaw so they all talk to each other. The only thing missing on this box is the swivel base which is brilliant on my Panasonic TX-L37G15 37 inch Viera Full HD LCD Television with Freesat (TX-L37G15B), though you could probably make your own with a lazy suzy nicked from the local Chinese restaurant - just pop in with your pop up tent from Glastonbury and they won't notice you leaving with their swivel service apart from the mess of the dim sum all over the table cloth. You can get equivalent TV from Samsung or Sony, or compromise with LG and Toshiba, or regret a Bush or Argos home brand, but you won't get a full quality integrated setup with any other manufacturer than a Panasonic. You could use a swivel chair instead of a lazy suzy. Don't forget to vote for this review with the buttons - I want to get to the top of the list, so vote positive - yeah yeah yeah!
Very Impressed July 27, 2010 Mr. Julian D. Wallond (England) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a lovely TV. A few points to mention:
1. The sound is better than I expected
2. Picture is really good (even with normal non-HD broadcasts)
3. DVDs are amazing and Blueray just stunning!
4. Freeview HD can not be received where I live yet through a normal TV aerial - I would recommend that you check your area before spending extra on a TV with this function.
5. I have found that if I have the DVD player power on, the reception for the TV deteriorates quite a lot (it's simple to turn the DVD off though).
Overall - excellent - and I can't wait to get HD coverage.
Knockout TV July 17, 2010 Robert C. Lawford (London) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
After resisting the ear bashing from my family to change our crt set for an LCD & seeing some of the rubbish pictures on standard freeview in various shops I finally gave in. I chose this machine because of the good writeups & I allready have two Panasonic hard drive recorders which are excellent. It was up & running within ten minutes of plugging it in.The standard freeview picture is about the best I've seen on an LCD tv. The Hi-def picture is superb. If the standard freeview is fed from one of my recorders into the hdmi socket it is upscaled so well that it looks nearly hi-def as do DVDs.The remote control is well layed out with larger buttons then normal. The sound is very good too.My only criticism is the noise around fast moving objects as another reviewer has mentioned but this seems common to lcd sets as my neighbour has the same on an LG 40inch lcd set.All in all an excellent tv.
Good choice all round; best picture and sound from Panasonic June 27, 2010 Archer Books (Hemel Hempstead, UK) 37 out of 37 found this review helpful
For the first HDTV in the house we finally decided against the newer LED tech, as the LED sets we viewed had slightly inferior picture quality and noticeably inferior sound to the Panasonic LCD sets whilst being £[] more expensive.
We thought the picture quality on this set to be the best of the 37" LCDs available.
No disappointment in service: it's easy to set up in 10 minutes, has all possible connections for HDMI/SCART/RF cables (take your pick) straight into the back and the picture and sound quality are both superb. The HD picture quality in particular is first class.
If you're thinking of buying into LED, you'll get the advantages of a lighter-weight set easier to mount on a wall, and the questionable benefit of slightly lower electricity consumption - but one washing machine cycle uses more power than a month's TV viewing anyway, so don't fret about that too much. The considerations (at the time of writing, June 2010) are the considerably higher price tag with LED, the inferior sound from tinny little speakers due to space restriction, and the fact you may need adaptors to plug any cables in the back as the sets are so thin that normal SCART sockets etc. can not be directly accommodated. None of these drawbacks apply to LCD sets.
The only downside of this LCD Panasonic set might be that it is a bit pricey compared to some other LCD or plasma sets, but the price will come down this summer in my view it's worth a bit extra as the whole package is so good - and it's still £[] less expensive than the equivalent LED which, in my view, ain't as good.
