Very pleased! March 13, 2010 John D. Goshorn (APO, AE United States) I bought this TV from Amazon.com for 375 pounds. It was not the cheapest branded 32 inch, but it was pretty close. Overall I am very pleased with it. I mostly run Sky+ (not HD) and my PS3 through it, and I have to say on the latter the picture is excellent, and with the former it is very good! I'm no expert, but the picture quality is great, and there is no noticeable motion blurring. The pictures are not washed out and black levels are good! There is minimal colour banding in only a few instances.
Naturally the picture suffers a bit when the signal strength becomes weaker, and unfortunately the digital tuner doesn't really show a decent picture because of our less than great signal. You can easily alternate between digital and analogue tuners (for the time being at least!). With the Sky signal there are no problems at all.
Overall I would highly recommend this TV, although you should be aware that digital TV's can be pretty unforgiving with a weak signal. If your analogue signal is fuzzy at all then this will convert to a jumping picture, closely resembling a smashed jigsaw. Around the 400 pound mark you may be getting into 32" 1080p price ranges, so look for that. For me though, this TV was a great buy and the 3-year warranty certainly gives piece of mind!
Enjoy!
Marvellous February 28, 2010 R. M. Macdonald The usual excellence of Sony and Amazon may be taken as read, but special mentions for Amazon, for delivering on free delivery in 3 days, and for Sony, for providing an outstandingly clear manual, not always the case in years past.
For this size of set the difference between HD and full HD will be unnoticeable for most people, and in any event there is no HD on freeview broadcasting, only on satellite/cable. I therefore see no point in spending the extra on the V or W model, although it might be different for those with satellite and certainly for those using the set for gaming.
For me I couldn't be more pleased with the wonderful picture and wish I'd got this long ago. I am happy to have paid a bit extra for the 3 year guarantee and Sony name, but I see this has gone up £40 since I bought, so I might now be considering the Toshiba or Samsung more carefully. As it is, 100% satisfied customer.
Amazingly good February 25, 2010 juliza We spent a long time choosing this with visits to several retailers. We wanted a good but not luxurious TV. Installed in our home we were pleasantly surprised by the picture and sound with satellite TV. We have since seen a HD TV with Sky HD in action and we are still impressed with ours. We chose this model because it has a USB port as we are keen photographers and this is a easy way of previewing our photos before committing them to DVD.
My TV.................. February 20, 2010 S. Galloway (Scotland) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY SONY TV, I FIRST SAW THE TV IN TESCO AND WAS GOING TO BUY IT THAT DAY, BUT I FIRST HAD TO CHECK AMAZON, I WAS HAPPY TO SEE THE TV WAS MUCH MUCH CHEAPER THAN TESCO AND WITH AMAZON FREE DELIVERY YOU JUST CANT GET BETTER THAN THAT....HAPPY CUSTOMER.......
"twas a couple of days before Christmas February 18, 2010 D (East Midlands, UK) ..........you know how it goes - all the family are round for Christmas and bang! the TV (not a Sony) packs up. Already having a Sony HDD recorder, I decided to go for a Sony Bravia TV (especially as Amazon had an offer on it).
Linking to the recorder was straightforward and the TV literally tuned itself with all the digital channels.
The picture is very good, the sound is OK (dynamic is fine, surround is iffy) and controls are fairly straightforward.
As I wanted to re-sort the channels this was cumbersome and you could easily screw up, but having completed it I don't envisage doing it again for some time.
Some things were not explained fully in the manual, e.g. SMART.
First time it is switched on (I switch off at night to save the world), it is a bit disconcerting as the Unix (I believe) operating system takes some time to boot.
Would I buy another - yes.
