2 out of 5 stars Very poor service from Samsung   February 12, 2009
M. A. Cox (Warwickshire. England)
As other people have said this is an excellent product, unfortunatly it its let down by poor backup from Samsung. I have been waiting for 2 months for a replacement board for my set and Samsung can give no expected date for delivery of this part. I am not alone in having this problem as my local dealer tells me he has had this problem before with similar models. A 2-3 month wait for spare parts. Not what you would expect after paying over £1000 for a set which you now cannot use.
Buyers beware!

4 out of 5 stars HD explained   June 3, 2007

the previous reviewer is incorrect - HD specs:

720i = 1280*720 interlaced (ie 50 fields (half a full screen) per second)
720p = 1280*720 progressive (ie 50 full screens per second)
1080i = 1920*1080 interlaced (50 fields per second)
1080p = 1920*720 progressive (50 full screens per second)

only a screen with the full 1920*1080 pixels can natively display either of the 1080 formats without downscaling

5 out of 5 stars Mr James D How the hell did you come up with that?   April 17, 2007

Ok just to put people in the picture (excuse the pun) 1080i is 1366x768 and 1080P or otherwise classed as True HD is 1920x1080 the screen resolutions are greatly different but If you want to be forward compatible look for the 1080P TV's as far as i am aware there aren't many broadcasts at this spec but blue ray dvd and hd dvd are at this impressive resolution rate. But if you have plans to hook your PC up as well I would definitely go for the 1080P Spec.

2 out of 5 stars Abysmal Picture   January 31, 2007

This isn't specific to the model in question (which is the one I happened to purchase)- all LCD TVs suffer in the same way. Unless you have Sky+, forget it. The picture from a SD feed will look no better than a grainy, pixellated internet mpeg. What's more worrying is the complete lack of tone, contrast and colour on these sets. Everything is presented in absolutes; black has no shades of grey, no subtlety. The same with blinding white. It genuinely seems that the current generation of these sets is still a work in progress- stick to a good quality widescreen CRT for a couple of years. Simply put, the latest batch of LCD TVs are a waste of money. Mine was returned within a week.
