samsung tv June 19, 2010 superuser (Scotland) Good valve for money tv bought this with no remote but anyone does, did not come with power cable either but luckly I had a spare . The tv gets 4 stars warehouse deals gets 1
Very pleased with it June 15, 2010 V. Cavicchioli (UK) I don't understand much about techical
aspects of tvs but I am very please with this one. Good sound and image. Takes a little
while to start up once you press the start button and it makes a pretty loud "start up noise". The same
when you switch it of but you get used to it. Looks beautiful and is easy to assemble.
Top Quality - Nice Price May 13, 2010 Duncan McDonald (Dundee) Just taken delivery of my new Le40. Great TV great price.
Out the box (and it is not too heavy) you'll need to assemble the stand if you plan to use it. Remember to have a long handled screwdriver handly to fit a couple of screws. Plug in your aerial and other devices, switch on and after answering a few questions bingo! you are up and running. Tuning is simple and fast.
Key concern here is the picture quality. I read the review in a popular TV mag which gave this a winning accolade. Subsequent research revealed similar positive views. To be honest, I was more concerned about buying a dog. Picture quality is excellent. The screen is bright, colours vivid and detail good. Sure, you get a bit of motion blur now and again but hey, its only 50hz. Such minor issues are acceptable and if you want more oomph, buy a better telly.
The digital picture is surprisingly good (it also has an analogue tuner) and as you'd expect HD looks great. Getting technical, as well as having deep blacks, it is the very bright whites that stand out for me.
On the sound issue, it is adequate. You ain't gonna get the equivelent of a home theatre at this price. The speakers are powerful and whilst the sound isn't gonna get the neighbours banging on the wall it is fine for TV. Hook it up to a sound system for movies. Note that the TruSurround function does improve things a bit.
Menus are well laid out and the TV has umpteen options for you to tinker away til your hearts content to get the right set-up. There are a range of pre-sets if you want a bit of simplicity.
The remote is huge though. It has a button for everything. It is well laid out and easy to use and the AnyNet function might enable control of your other devices, particularly if they are Samsung. The TV does have surface controls on the side edge for basic functions but they don't illuminate so are a bit hard to see.
Consider this TV exceptional value for money. It only cost me an extra £90 over a 32" and ordered over Amazon it was delivered in a matter of days.
I can't think of any flaws at this price and I like the melody its cute.

Designed by Koreans built by Slovakians A fabulous, affordable piece of kit... April 26, 2010 C. J. Morrell 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Only an anally retentive nerd like me could possibly find fault with this screen..i did manage it ,however, within a few days...
The issue outstanding, with LCD backlit sets, namely "hot spots",slightly uneven coverage by the backlight,is addressed by the new, more expensive LED backlit designs...
However, only by cranking the backlight up to 10,and pausing a "black" frame of video,in a room with NO lights, after dark curtains drawn etc is this "fault" at all visible! By so doing i did achieve confirmation that i had indeed bought a piece of crap, the sort of inferior rubbish that suited my budget, when what i really needed was to save another £500 for an LED backlit set,and that my life will only be complete when i can ditch this one and get the superior tech...
Apart from that...This thing is just amazing value...make sure you can sit the right distance away and even regular "Freeview" T.V (which on-screen info reminds you is only 576i..so it's massively "stretched")is unfeasably good...the MotoGp and Formula One coverage looks fantastic,no "flashing" on the reds, no evidence of the lack of "motion tracking processing" that keeps the price down apparently. Fleshtones are just as credible as a top CRT..even the big faces against blue background stuff like Newsnight pass the test, with detail levels i frankly didnt expect...
My budget was blown,so have yet to get a blu-ray,but regular DVD looks pretty damn good, through either component or good old RGB scart...David Simon's washed-out and emotional "Generation Kill" totally involving. I've had a taste of *High Def* via a media player. As long as they are ISO files the ultra cheap "Sumvision Cyclone micro"Sumvision Cyclone Micro Media Player upscales to 1080p...'am revisiting "True Blood" this way, and colours and general levels of detail are great, motion is poor, but most of this is down to the compression then upscaling of the copied DVD files (!!)
Perennial favourite David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive" ,and it's successor "Inland Empire" are real workouts for the SAMSUNG...a vivid palette and lots of underlit half-lit stuff..what was all that crap about LCD's and backlights and levels of black?.. Back to back comparison of Cinema colour led to a reviewing of "The Bourne Ultimatum",reminding me that the screen i just saw "Shutter Island" on had a noticeable tear or huge scratch in it which distracted me in the first and last scenes of the movie!!. Y'see i cant get away from this fault finding,it's in my nature...
Great HD images, shame about sound quality April 16, 2010 Fikda 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What's great about this tv is the picture quality whilst watching sources in HD.Colours are rich and vivid, blacks are deep with no sign of light bleeding, images are sharp and extremely detailed and there are no real signs of motion blurring.
Switch to SD and it's a different story.Although colours remain vibrant and blacks are still great, images lack definition(even at the maximum sharpness setting) and signs of motion blurring become apparent.
Here is the real dowside.Sound quality on this tv is very poor, with slashy treble, dull midrange and bass that has no weight to it whatsoever. You would be forgiven for thinking Samsung had ripped a set of speakers from a 1970's radio, and put them straight into the tv,the sound really is that bad.The good thing is that you can bypass this,by connecting the tv to a home cinema amplifier via the digital optical output.
Would i recommend this tv?....The simple answer is yes.Dispite the failings on Sd and sound, image quality in Hd,is on par with tv's costing more than twice as much.I bought this tv to watch HD and this is where it really sings.
