2 out of 5 stars Disappointing Samsung   April 5, 2010

I am a Samsung Fan, I love the design and aesthetics of everything they do.
After 2 Samsung tv's (a 46" series 6 and a 26 " series 2) I decided to upgrade the series 2...

Thinking this wouldn't be 'that' much behind the newly bought, and Highly impressive 46" series 6, I bought this Series 5 without question...

Pluses -
It looks good
Colour scale and contrast is good

Minuses -
REALLY REALLY BAD SOUND - I spent ages trying and trying to get a decent sound set up and it struggled, badly, particularly with music (I know you don't predominantly buy a TV for music, but it was most noticeable here...not with base, or treble, just 'in general' like it wanted to give up?...) also, conversations in programs and movies were not intelligable at various points.

Motion blur, in comparison to tv's since and before, was terrible - Xbox games showed this up. I'd very much doubt its 5mS as advertised, particularly in comparison to the tv's marked below (and this is regardless of what picture settings I adjusted)

No audio headphone jack - the first... ever... tv... I've known, not to have one :(

Was unfortunately happy to return it in exchange for a different model

I'd recommend Philips 32PFL5604H (my current tv) or the LG 32LH4000 (a friends tv, which, similarly priced, I compared my now departed Samsung 530 to...and knew I was 'had'), particularly if looking for 1080p playback. Sound on both is fantastic (particularly the Philips, with strong loud base :), and picture settings for both are intuitive and easy to get perfect results.

I still love samsungs... But am now conscious of looking elsewhere before buying... a shame :(

5 out of 5 stars Great   March 19, 2010

Great service, tv was up and running within 5 minutes. I love it, nice clear picture and a good size, excellent value for money

5 out of 5 stars TV = Awesome   February 1, 2010

Perfectly sized for my flat living room, this television is simply great, had it a few weeks and no problems with it, simple to use and set up, and the built in free view is an added bonus. Mainly I use it for gaming, it has a very sharp image and makes even the xbox homepage look stunning!

Looking at the television now the edge tv isn't extended by speakers, about a 2inch boarder all round (excet the bottom which seems about 4.

The buttons on the side are very handy if you have it mounted high up on a wall.

With a vga port you can plug this baby into your computer, There is a pc/dvi audio input with I think is for the sound from a computer. but probably worth double checking that somewhere else, as my knowledge of wires and cabling is second rate! :-D

With 3 HDMI ports you can easily have enough things hooked up. There are also component ports, which work with the older versions of the XBOX 360 which don't have the HDMI port on the back. (Damn you Microsoft!!!)

Not being too heavy you can easily mount this on a wall, the instructions in the manual are straight
forward so any lay-man (or woman) could do this. The only bad thing about this was; IT DIDN'T COME WITH THE BRACKETS/CLAMPS TO SECURE IT TO THE WALL!!! These have to be purchased separately.

The sound that comes out of the tv is pretty damn good, I've had it pretty loud without loss of quality. There is an optical digital audio output, as well as an analogue RCA for home theatre systems / surround sound.

The remote control is pretty large but without loads of buttons, so everything is spaced and easy to find.

This television is perfect if your looking for something to come into the new technology age of HD viewing. being pretty straight forward to use, and giving fantastic picture quality. Damn good for computer gaming, and amazing picture in blu-ray. My only question to you is; why haven't you bought it yet?

5 out of 5 stars Great viewing angle   December 28, 2009

This TV was bought for our narrow lounge. Given the price, I can't fault it at all. It is running off a Sky+ box i.e. SD only. The SD picture is probably not as good as our 37" Toshiba but with a bit of minor tweaking is more than adequate. The Xmas visitors made complementatory comments about the picture quality. The viewing angle is excellent, far better than our older Toshiba LCD. A good choice for us.

This is a great performer, I researched a lot and finally decided on this LCD, I have only one issue- you cannot connect headphone as there is no socket. you can connect an amplifier and then use the headphone connector of the amp.
