Excellent July 12, 2010 Mr. J. J. Percival (Hungerford(ish), UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought one of these after reading What Hi-Fi's review and recommendation as the best 32" on the market. Very easy to use, set-up was simple although the difference between this and our old analogue meant I had to tone down the colours for a while till we got used to the HD picture. Plenty of connectivity at the back for a lot of extras, and it plays .avi movies straight of a USB memory stick. No faults to it, an excellent buy
Wow! May 14, 2010 ceperman (UK) I chose this TV after reading reviews on the internet and a video review (unfortunately I can't find it again to post here) which rated it top of the sets under test. TV pictures and playback from our Topfield PVR look much better than before (a 28" Sony), and as for HD from the PS3 Blu-ray player - simply stunning! And the TV itself looks very stylish with its narrow frame and rounded corners. I really couldn't be more pleased.
fab tv April 27, 2010 Syd 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
a truely great TV. am very happy with it. picture quality very good on "normal" TV, HD channels look amazing, and blu-ray even better. everything looks so life like. agree is very very easy to set up - up and running within a few minutes. like the home screen which you can customise to create shortcuts to all attached devices. sound is very good indeed - the wife doesnt like speakers everywhere, and previous LCD TVs have sounded awful. the sound on this is clear and the surround sound quite reasonable - obviously never going to come close to have a speaker system, but is clearly the best sound I've had compared to 4 other LCD's I've bought (sony, toshiba, samsung). struggling to find any faults at all
Great TV April 5, 2010 PSd (England) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was in the market for a 32" LCD and thought around £350 would get me a perfectly good set. That was until I saw the picture quality. The blurring around fast moving objects especially in sport broadcasts made them, for me, unwatchable, and not a patch on my old Sony Wega CRT.
So I headed over to What Hi-Fi and read / watched their reviews. To be honest, I was pretty gutted that I was going to have to go way over my original budget to get decent picture quality but I am so glad I made the extra investment!
Out of the box and in place within about 2 minutes - simple one-man job.
Picture setup's a piece of cake - you're shown a series of side-by-side images, asked which you prefer and the tv adjusts it's picture setting to your own subjective tastes. They're easily re-adjusted and fine-tuned through a simple 'Picture' button on the remote. The actual picture quality is superb, freeview broadcasts look great with no discernible blurring and the Philips BDP3000 Blu-ray Player I bought at the same time produces simply stunning results. DVD's like Dexter and The Wire are upscaled beautifully and the pictures rendered superbly - it's hard not to get distracted by the detail, though, and to keep up with the plot. Blu-Ray films like The Dam Busters and The Dark Knight are even more amazing, although I have to play with the picture settings to get the best out of them. It's a small price to pay though, maybe half-a-minute's fiddling to get the best possible two-hours' viewing.
The EPG's straightforward and easily accessed using the 'Guide' button on the remote (our one-star friend from Dudley was not at his best, poor chap, though read in a strong Black Country accent his review's actually quite funny. Joking aside though, I can find no similarity between this product and the one he's reviewing - I've a sneaking suspicion he's either reviewing a totally different item or works for Sony(!)).
The sound's okay, better than I anticipated, and the built-in surround actually does a pretty good job. I've never heard great sound from a flat-screen tv, though, (maybe something to do with the acoustics of the box itself, and the limitations place on speaker shape?) and having seen and heard the JBL Spot 2.1 Speakers - Interchangeable Black & White Covers in a hotel room recently I bought a set and they take the sound from good to fantastic, really good bass, and the satellite speakers look really smart nestling under the frame in matching black.
Switched off, the slim frame and minimal styling of the tv itself makes the product quite attractive as a piece of furniture, although I can't see the point of the transparent surround, and that the tv will swivel on it's base (through about 20 degrees) is a useful feature.
All-in-all, a great buy and well worth the extra money - I couldn't be more pleased.
Brilliant TV February 26, 2010 S. P. Lafford-smith 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
What can I say, the quality of this TV is brilliant. I was looking to upgrade from a 7 year old Philips HD Ready model (our first LCD TV) and after much looking around I settled on the 32PFL7404H. I was pleased with the previous Philips so thought I would stick with them.
This is a really easy telly to set up. Out of the box, slide the stand in to place and put the screws in to fasten it together. Next step is to plug in all of your external devises and you will be hard pressed to not be able to find the port you need as this TV is packed with ports. Turn it on and you will go through a quick setup phase (about 5mins) where you customise the display as you prefer. It is all really easy to do.
Once all this is done you will fully appreciate how good this product is. The picture displayed is crystal clear and very sharp! I tested with a SD film via Sky and was surprised by just how good it looked. I honestly never expected this much difference, I am glad that I have gone with Full HD now. Comparing to the old TV proved just how much of a difference there was in viewing performance. I am now going to be upgrading my Sky to SkyHD and get myself a Blu-Ray player. If it is this clear on SD I can't wait to see HD!
Excellent service from Amazon as always.
