Great little LCD........ February 26, 2008 Glenn P (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this TV quite a while ago for the bedroom and have found it to be a quality purchase. The display is crisp and rich and the sound isn't half bad either. I used it as my PC monitor for a short period and again everything looked great. Web pages really came alive on this display. The menus are really easy to navigate and the remote control is pretty standard but very functional. It is wall mountable, but mine is sat on a chest of drawers and looks really good in the room.
Overall, this is a slim and stylish LCD TV that serves its purpose well.
Great TV, great price August 7, 2007 Dibbo (Surrey) I bought this TV to put on the wall in a bedroom, and it is great. The picture quality is fantastic, the design is simple and looks really good compared to many others.
I spent a long time searching for the right TV, and after owning this for six months, I am really happy with it.
THis is NOT HD Ready July 20, 2007 Desmo 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
To quote the newb :p
"Ignore the words of those people who are reviewing this product without actually understanding a thing about it. - This television IS HD ready as advertised."
If the statement that Philips have said this is not HDCP compliant is true, then this TV is not HD Ready. HDCP compliancy is a prerequisite of being "HD Ready"
Good value for money September 13, 2006 MarcoP (Oxford, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had this TV for few months now and I have never had problems of any sort. Yes, the TV is NOT completely HD ready, which means that the advertise (that is also on the actual monitor) it is not completely true, but apart that whoever is going to use the TV with Xbox or PS devices will be satisfied with a cheap DV-I connection (well known by Mac users). The monitor is clear, images are sharp and the overall quality is definitely high. A bad thing is the weird kind of stand, which is incompatible with many common brackets and give a rough and difficult tilting. Just a last personal observation; the 17" are certainly not so much if you are going to stay at more than 150-180 cm from the TV. Think about that if you want to put the TV in a med sized dining room...Hope this can help.
A nice television, but there's no HDCP support... June 29, 2006 G. Stoneman (UK) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
With regard to the debate on whether this television is really "HD-Ready" or not, I took another reviewer's advice and contacted Philips Customer Care asking if this TV supports HDCP. Their reply: "With regards to your query we can advise that unfortunately the 17PF4310 is not HDCP compliant".
So, although this will support un-protected HD feeds (such as an Xbox 360), you won't be able to watch any Blu Ray or HD-DVD films, or any content-protected broadcasts, without the image being scaled down to normal resolution.
Hope this clarifies things!
