So disappointed February 22, 2010 Christopher Brown (Billericay UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a Panasonic fan, delighted with all my other Panny products, I purchased this tv expecting high standards. How wrong I was.
I already have a 42 inch Panasonic plasma which is wonderful on all counts. Side by side, although the picture on this set is very good, it just looks artificial against the plasma. The colours are just too bright and vivid, whatever the setting. The LCD v plasma debate has been had many times before but I definitely know which I prefer. Unfortunately there aren't many 37inch plasmas these days!
So, for an LCD tv, the picture is fine. SD is ok (clarity is still not as good as my plasma though), HD is impressive, especially through my Panasonic BluRay player, which obviously operates at a higher quality than broadcast HD.
But then there is the sound quality. Quite frankly it's appalling. And yes, I've had an engineer out to fix the vibration problems referred to elsewhere in these reviews using the Panasonic update kit. It still sounds no better than a £10 portable radio. The engineer even changed the speakers because he thought they were faulty but there was no improvement. The engineer himself described the set as sounding like a mutilated cat (although I admit that I have never had the experience of meeting a mutilated cat so am unable to comment on his comparison!).
I know people will tell me that all modern tvs have poor sound because the cases are so thin, but the quality of this Panasonic is just unacceptable. No matter how you have the sound settings configured, it just sounds painful. Partly perhaps because the speakers face down rather than out into the room. The whole viewing experience is ruined.
I could always add a separate sound system, but why should I need to do this when I purchased this high end model as a second set for occasional use? The reality is that neither my wife nor I want to watch the set for more than a few minutes at a time because of the painful sound. It sits in our study gathering dust.
I deliberately avoiding buying a Samsung LED because they supposedly have even thinner cases and also suffer from sound problems but they really couldn't be worse than this. We listened to the set in a showroom prior to purchase but it's only when you get it into a domestic environment that you realise just how awful it is.
Shame on you Panasonic for releasing such a sub-standard product.
Panasonic TX L37V10b -lcd February 12, 2010 Gadgetman (Lake District UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this TV for its functionality and looks and I haven't been disappointed. It was one of the thinest LCD avaialable and when wall mounted with a £40 bracket from John Lewis looks the part. The stand it comes with is the best I've seen if you want to mount it on top of furniture (but for me that the defeats the purpose of an LCD TV)
The sound can be a little disappointing but can be easily played through an amplified speaker (on the occassions where great sound is important to you) but for day to day watching the in built speakers perform OK
Picture must be viewed from a distant (3m+) to get maximum benefit (but that probably saves your eyes anyway)
The HDMI cables are well placed allowing a wall mount without the cables interfering (if you use HMI 4)
I haven't connected this product up to a Viera linked Blu Ray yet but the link on other Panasonic products is a great feature if you are into single remote operation
Dissappointing February 6, 2010 Mr. Damien Mccormack (Nr. London. UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a large Pana Plasma - so I expected good things. Very little about this LCD is good. I am actually a Pana convert - used to pray to Sony. But having pained over my current Sony PVR which needs more restarts than my first car, and a failed Sony camcorder, I decided the time was right to change. So I converted to Panasonic - and I was pleased, My Plasma is great. And there it ends. Then I buy this Pana LCD for my office. I wanted to be able to connect it to my network so I went for DLNA - little did I know DLNA is a joke. It means nothing. You cant stream music to this LCD - Why not? You can't view photos unless they are in exactly the right format - not just a JPG - but a special format JPG - err ? Does Panasonic really think people are going to reformat all their pictures just because Panasonic thinks they should? Eh - No!
So I have an LCD on the wall - and don't let me forget the image quality is only fair at best. Its grainy. Its blocky. Its, well,,,, just not good. Unlike my Plasma - but then I am not reviewing the Plasma here.
So if you want to make use of DLNA and you want a good screen picture - look elsewhere
Panasonic TX L37V10B - brilliant quality T.V December 31, 2009 Mr. P J (UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
We ordered this Television on Dec 23rd and it arrived the next day. Just in time for Christmas.
Once out of the box the TV looks great. The silver stand gives it a much better aesthetic look.
The TV itself is very slim and is easy to move. Plug in and the Panasonic goes into auto- setup mode and sets up everything once you have given a few details such as postcode (needed for regional channels). This takes about five minutes.
The picture is excellent on freeview and we are very impressed. Great colours and very sharp images. There are lots of settings you can change to your own liking.
We have not had a Freesat dish installed yet but we have read the HD channels are fantastic picture quality.
The sound for normal TV etc was better than we expected. We read the other reviews but we need not have worried. This more than meets our needs. You can again change various settings. All very easy.
Of course if you do want pumping bass and surround sound then you could also connect a home cinema speaker system. There are lots of connectivity inputs & outputs on the rear of the TV.
Viera Cast & DNLA.
These are really good features. The ability to view all our digital camera pics and Div X files streamed from the PC is brilliant. So to is watching YouTube from the comfort of your armchair. The quality is not bad either even when viewed in full screen mode.
This is just our opinion but we are very impressed with this TV. Go get one...
Very pleased December 31, 2009 Bungy (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is my first flat screen tv, have seen others in friends houses that did not impress me (everyone was short and fat), but love this one as it has so many configurations for the picture so you can set it up as you like to view, it also has a whole host of additional stuff like free sat and I have used the SD card slot for an excellent photo slideshow. Bought the Panasonic Blu-Ray player later and with Viera Link it is so easy to connect the two.
