5 out of 5 stars Awesome LCD viewing   January 2, 2010
Michael Sharp
Only bloke in houshold of girls and fed up of reallity TV so bought a Panasonic TX-37LZD80 37'' for my roof conversion having shopped around and read loads of reviews. Did not go for more expensive version re motion blurr as told unable to detect any difference by other customers. Already own a Sharp Aquos 37 and picture on that V Good. The Panasonic is unbelievable, Clean sharp great contrast no motion blurr and the colours amazing. Ok its connected to a sky HD box but even ordinary TV looks good. HD out of this world. There are apparently other sets that produce equally good picture quality however they are let down on sound. This however produces awesome quality '' surround sound '' especially on action adventure movies so did not bother buying seperately. Set up was easy and I'm no computer nerd. Also great connected to a playstation. One bit of advice that I picked up was connecting using a reasonable quality HDMI cable QED classic HDMI-P adds the icing to whats already a fantastic cake.

5 out of 5 stars 100% recommended!!   October 11, 2009

Bought this TV from an alternative online retailer last year (0% finance for 10 months kinda helped!). Have been thoroughly impressed so far. Spent forever researching different manufacturers and models both online and "in-store" (thoroughly annoying the wife in the process....!). Was upgrading from a 28" Panasonic CRT telly about 5 years old and not only wanted to change the appearnce and size of the TV but really wanted a 1080P set to run my Xbox 360 through. Narrowed it down to this one and similar spec Samsung TV's. Originally looked at the Sony Bravia range but was very disappointed with the appearance "in the flesh", the style of the sets and also the slightly "plasticky" feel put me off, when paying premium prices I believe you should feel everything should be "just right". After further research I found when comparing the Samsung picture to the Panasonic there was a noticable difference. Plumped for this model for £585 last year and have been absolutely delighted. Running Call of Duty 4 through this set when compared with my old TV was a revelation, fantastic colours and detail. (Much easier to shoot people now...!) Have now also got Sky HD running through this set too. Again picture quality is outstanding, Premier League football and the Ashes looked amazing, down to individual blades of grass being CLEARLY visible, especially on the slow motion replays used by the sports broadcasters. The sound quality is pretty solid too, not amazing but more than anyone could ask for for "normal" viewing. Obviously for film buffs a Surround Sound system would be the best choice. Can't comment on the Freeview side of things as have only ever run Sky followed by Sky HD through it. Thoroughly recommend this set(since I've had mine 3 friends have also purchased Panasonic HD tv's!)

4 out of 5 stars Panasonic TX-37LZD80 Review   August 9, 2009

I bought this TV from PC World for a unbelievably low £299 price (Ex-demo). I already own a 42PV500B plasma, a superb TV, and I wanted to stick with the Panasonic brand. The TX-37LZD80 is a good alrounder. The connectivity is good with 3 HDMI links and the usual scarts etc. I bought this TV mainly for my kids X-box. In HD picture quality is excellent. Graphics in Gears of War 2 are breathtaking and if you are buying a TV for HD use then you can't go wrong. Black levels are not the best I've seen, but overall I don't think there too bad.

Freeview quality is ok in today's standard and I do agree with some of the other review's on picture quality could be a bit crisper. In comparison, most Panasonic plasma's will provide better definition and black levels. However in defence of the TX-37LZD80 fast motion picture quality (football for example) is excellent and better than my 42PV500B, which 5 years ago was hailed as the best 42" on the market.

Set up of Panasonic TV's is so easy you could do it blind folded and the menu list and Freeview EPG is nicely laid out and easy to understand, which is alot better than similar offerings from other manufacturers.

In summary, I like this TV. It looks good with it's gloss black surround, it has great connectivity and HD picture quality is brilliant. For gaming you really can't go wrong. With Full HD 1080p picture quality you really can see the difference in comparison to HD ready sets.

Freeview picture quality in my opinion is good. Ok you will find better quality on other Panasonic TV's, but to be honest, these days there's not much in it unless your 1 of the TV experts comparing picture quality and black levels all day long!

Overall, a great TV for a great price and good all round performance!

1 out of 5 stars Rubbish EPG with adverts   July 17, 2009

Have had this tv for a few months now. The EPG doesn't show preview and also cuts off the channel you are watching when you select it. The EGP also shows adverts. Also when you select a channel it keeps wanting to setup timers for shows and locks what you can watch.

Very pleased with set thus far, more expensive than other sets. Panasonic has a good reputation & this make of TV was recommended to me by a television installer who has installed many different makes of TVS.I was also pleased to read other purchasers reviews prior to making a decision to buy this model.
