I have been looking for a new tv for awhile now and decided to go for a Samsung set, I was so impressed I decided to write a review.
Quick pro/con
pros. >Fantasic picture
>Great features and connectivity
>great style
>Good price
Cons. >sound is not too great
>Slow menus (easily fixed with firmware upgrade)
The first thing that grabbed my attention was the looks. these TV's look great, Only 44mm thick and the red/black bezel is a fantastic idea plus the screen has touch sensitive buttons on the front witch light up as you use them. all together very cool
this set also has all the connections/features you could possibly need most notably 4 HDMI ports 3 on the back one on the side.
Being able to link the tv to my PC's music and video collection was another bouns. wirelessly if you pick up the samsung dongle(just £15-£17)
also you get-2 remotes (one full feature and a small simplified pebble remote) and a cloth for the screen
The most important thing naturally is the image quality and you really wont be disappointed its the most clear tv ive seen, even right out of the box without any tinkering. It uses 100mhz motion plus which ill be honest I just ignored when i bought the tv not fully understanding the effect it has. its truly amazing and hard to put into words, everything has a more natural look with fluid movement allmost like your looking through a window not at an image on screen and natually blu-ray and 1080p is awesome.
A couple of things to be aware of if you are looking to pick this up. the menu screens are very slow its pretty irritating, however there is a firmeware upgrade to download. after that everything runs great. the sound is the norm for an lcd screen so you'll soon have it hooked up to a seperate sound system. Other than that I can not fault this screen. buy it you wont regret it :)

Bought this TV after much deliberation. Looks lovely, great picture. However, tinny sound and the screen developed burned in marks within two days - sent it back. Very disappointing after so much care and thought went into this expensive purchase.

I've been looking into LCD Tv's for some time now, and after a couple of months looking into it (never rush !!!) settled on this. I was aware that the sound was not a strong point, and it isn't. But .... looking at the plus points. It looks the business. The picture is absolutely fantastic and HD is outstanding. Contrast ratio is excellent. and the thing is ... what 44mm thick. Looks and acts the part. Match that with a samsung blue ray player and there you have it. Plus, the rose black (which is a black/ dark red) well done samsung, who would have through that that could be a winner. Then ... (yes there's more) the 856 talks to my server and the internet for media information. I have my full photo/music and video collection on my server, and this media centre tv will access it all. As long as you get say 5 years warranty (shouldn't make a big purchase without it) then ... this baby comes very highly recommended.
